I am late getting this post out but with moving a few states away and getting settled in PA, well I have been busy. The move went well and we had a very nice visit with Danny and Julie Mayer in Lexington, KY. We got to our new home on August 3rd, 2009. We missed out on a summer vacation this year due to moving so when the opportunity to see The Allman Brothers and Widespread Panic came up we jumped on it. Then we realized that area was actually in the middle of NY state wine country called the Finger Lakes. So we went up a 3 days early to check it out. We landed in Lake Seneca located in Watkins Glen, NY. It seems to have the most wineries in the area. We camped for 3 nights on the lake, yes we could actually camp in August! Wow that is a change from down home:)

The first day we decided to take a morning hike at Watkins Glen State Park. It was beautiful! It is a 2 mile hike through tunnels, bridges, rocks and water falls. A great way to start off the trip.

After the hike we showered off and head out for some lunch and wine tastings. We really enjoyed seeing all the wineries. You were driving along the road with the lake on one side of the car and wineries on both sides of the car. Just beautiful! Some of the wineries were old mansions and some were brand new. Everyone was really nice and taught us all about their wine.

We left on Saturday and headed back towards home and the concert that night. We stopped an hour later in another small town for the concert that night. We really enjoyed getting to see 2 of our favorite bands. It was the icing on the cake for a nice little get away we squeezed in for summer 2009!
Sunday as we were driving home we passed a sign on the interstate that said "Niagara 19 miles". I quickly got out the map and realized they were in fact meaning Niagara Falls area. So we took a small detour and dropped by the falls. Bonus fun!
